Before you actually jailbreak, it is better to know about the difference between a tethered and an untethered jailbreak.

The one thing you should know is that Jailbreaking actually modifies the root of your iDevice. This helps apps and tweaks from Cydia to be installed on your iOS device which would normally not be allowed.

The way your jailbreak setup works when you reboot your iPhone is the criteria that decides whether your jailbreak is a tethered one or an untethered one.

1). Tethered Jailbreak

A tethered jailbreak is mostly the first type of jailbreak that arrives on the web whenever a new iOS is released. The tethered jailbreak has all the characteristic features of an untethered jailbreak but the only difference is, you can’t reboot your iOS device without connecting it to the computer and using a specific tethering software (like Redsn0w).

For obvious reasons, if you have a tethered jailbreak on your iPhone, you’ll think twice before trying to reboot your gadget. It’s not as cumbersome as it sounds but anything that has more than one step will, in comparison to the usual reboot process, be complicated.

2). Untethered Jailbreak

After the devs create the tethered jailbreak and test it out, it’s time to patch things up and figure out a way to create the untethered. And it simply means: you can reboot your iPhone just as normally as you would, without having to connect it to your computer or run Redsn0w’s Just Boot.

People prefer untethered – and some even wait for it till they jailbreak their iPhones – because it’s complete. Having to use a computer and Redsn0w just to reboot often sucks because what if your iPhone got turned off (low battery, may be?) when you are away from any access to a computer?

How to Jailbreak with RedSn0w Using a Custom Restore IPSW (Windows)

Jailbreak tutorial
Step One
Create a folder on your desktop called jailbreak

Download RedSn0w and place it in the jailbreak folder. Likewise, download the latest 4.1 firmware or any firmware of your choice from here 
please note: it is advicable to sava your shsh blob so as to enable you downgrade back to your previous ios firmware version.
 you might want to read how to save shsh blobs.

Extract the redsn0w zip that you just downloaded into the same folder



Step Two
Launch the redsn0w application from the redsn0w folder we extracted earlier. please run redsnow as admin.



Step Three
Once RedSn0w opens click the Browse button.



Step Four
Locate and select the 4.1 firmware ipsw we placed in the jailbreak folder on our desktop then click Open.

Step Five
Once the firmware has been verified click the Next button to continue.



Step Six
RedSn0w will now prepare the jailbreak data



Step Seven
From this window you can select the jailbreak options you would like. Choose to put your iPhone in DFU mode.

    

Step Eight
Please plug your iPhone into the computer and make sure its OFF then click the Next button



Step Nine
RedSn0w will now guide you through the steps to get into DFU mode. You can find more help with DFU mode.
Put your device in pawned dfu mode by following redsnow instruction.



Step Ten
Launch iTunes and select your device from the list on the left. To make iTunes restore to a custom ipsw, hold down Shift and click the Restore button. This will bring up window letting you select the custom ipsw for restore

Checking Firmware Version

Use the following steps below to check which version of firmware is installed on your device. Tap Settings > Tap General > Tap About > Your current running iOS firmware will be listed next to Version.

How to Restore or Update your Apple Device

Gevey Sim not working. (Trouble shooting for gevey)

Trouble shooting for Gevey Sim unlocks

Case 1. If you encounter a no service message on your network bar, when using gevey, go to airplane mode and turn on then turnoff airplane mode within 5 seconds. Now go to phone call and daill 112 then hang up after 2seconds. Now rush to airplane mode and turn it on again then wait for a no sim message to appear.

Note this problem may occur especially when you are on 3g and you have a limited network service if you unlocked with gevey.

Case 2. If you don't get the accept screen when you insert gevey, you may need to install furious mode by following the guide on step 1 above. It should work.

Case 3. If gevey still didn't unlock your device after case 1 and 2 above, then its possible the Gevey sim is bad or your network carrier sim is bad. You can confirm that by trying it on other iphone. 

>Also try wipe clean your Gevey sim with a piece of clean cloth. You can also do the same to your micro sim, and ensure a proper contact of your micro sim to your gevey.

>Finally, be sure your ios and your modem firmware is compatible for gevey sim unlocks. You can check for compatibility before buying a new Gevey.

Also if your device is running the latest ios 6.14 - 7 .then sorry to say,Gevey may not work for you. Presently gevey works for ios 6.1 and below.

How to unlock with Gevey?

Step 1:  You may need a jailbroken device. To add this repository below to your cydia. Open cydia>manage>source>edit>add. Enter the url below and click add source.

Step 2: FIrst turn off your device, and place your gevey sim on the sim tray.

Step 3: now place your micro sim on it and slot it into the sim tray compartment

Then put on your iphone.

Step 4: Read the screen guide and follow the next step by clicking the accept tab on the screen.

Step 5: Dail 112 and hang up in 2sec. Then go to settings from your device menu and turn on airplane mode.

Step 6: wait till no sim installed message appears on your screen. Then turn off airplane mode, To accept the invalid sim message. Your  iphone will be unlocked instantly.

“alpine”. Then hit the login button. Now you will be able to SSH to your iOS device. 

4. Click the terminal icon inWinSCP. In order to find the Cyberduck, all you need to visitUtilities > Terminal

root@your.idevice.ip.address.” 6. As soon as you visit the terminal, all you need to do is enter the

current Cydia program in order to install iDevices. Use this

Spring board keep crashing. ios device keep rebooting or restarting by itself. Fix.

Trouble shooting

If you recently noticed this event, do not panic, read and follow this trouble shooting below.

Case 1. Device keep rebooting after jailbreak (evasion jailbreak) might cause this. Do not worry, to fix this, open cydia> click > click the cydia tab were you have notification, usually 3 update is required to be installed. Update your cydia. Ensure to be connected to the internet. After update reboot your devise. It should fix the problem.

Case 2: if your device just keep crashing and rebooting by itself,  you must have tempered your date and time.check your date and time if its up to date, if not,update it. From settings>general>date and time> set date and time, you may also click set automatically.

If issues still occur then you might need to uninstall your newly installed apps from cydia. You must have possible installed an apps from cydia newly. Cydia Not Opening? How to fix cydia crashing

What are the most frustrated things about Cydia? You may pick one from any of these problems: Cydia not

opening; Cydia not loading after you downloaded it to your iDevices; Cydia is not working at all; Cydia keeps

crashing and it won’t load. If any of the above mentioned things happen is not cool at all. We don’t want this

to be happened and we hate to see it when it is happening. If you are having any of these problems with

your Cydia, here’s what you can do to solve the problems significantly.

 

Trouble shoot to fix cydia crashing

Case 1: Cydia keeps crashing It is normal to see Cydia keeps crashing after the jailbreak process. If there is an error message saying “x

HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error”, it usually means your installation is incomplete. Something went

wrong during the installation. 

Sometimes this could be network issue when trying to download from cydia . This could be fixed by ensuring proper internet connection during download or when running cydia.

If Your Cydia will keep crashing even if you try to restart your device and you are sure to have a proper internet connection, the only Solution might be to rejailbreak your device. perhaps you could re-jailbreak your iDevice and reinstall Cydia, with other good jailbreaking by following a complete step.

Case 2: Cydia not loading. It is common to see Cydia is not loading with the message “Unable to Load (the internet connection appears

to be offline)”. Solution: Check your internet connection and see if it is working properly. In some cases, Cydia is not able to load if you are connected to the internet using mobile data because the connection is too slow. Another

possible reason for this issue is the time and date settings in your iDevice.

Case 3: If Cydia is crashing upon load, you can try these steps to fix it. These steps require iFile installed, ssh installed, mobile terminal installed, or an understanding of how to get at

the file system with iphonebrowser or such. Those topics are not covered here (look for another guide for how to get to the file system elsewhere such as the ssh guide here). This guide should only be used if cydia crashes upon load. It is not to solve any other problem. 

To fix this you need ifunbox or itools on your pc then connect your device to your pc with usb, now Locate and delete the following two files:

/etc/apt/sources.list.d/cydia.list

/var/lib/cydia/metadata.plist Remove anything in this folder. Leave the

folder, just make sure it is empty:

/var/lib/dpkg/updates/ that should fix the problem.

Case 4: Cydia not working or Cydia not opening at all Sometimes, Cydia won’t load, won’t work, or won’t be able to open at all even you try to reboot your iDevice.

This is definitely frustrating especially when it keeps backing out every time you tap on the brown Cydia logo

and try to launch it. Solution: One reason this could be happened is there are too many connections to Cydia server when you try to download it. You may not be able to download Cydia completely although the screen shows you it is

completely done. This is because the server receives heavy traffic and nobody can load Cydia or any other

packages when the server is down. What you can do is to re-install Cydia itself through an SSH program or

wait for a couple hours until the server is up. You can always download the latest Cydia deb file and install

the latest version on your iDevices. 

Case 5: If cydia is not loading the package you have just downloaded You have just downloaded some packages and installed a few tweaks from Cydia but you can’t find them

under Cydia -> Manage -> Packages -> Installed Tweaks. There are no icons appear at your home screen

too. Solution: First of all, do not panic. Things could be simpler than you think. Try to reboot or respring your device and see if the packages appear in the Installed Tweaks. If it doesn’t work, check and see how many Cydia sources you have in your iDevice. Cydia can’t show all packages if you have too many sources saved in your device. Try to remove some of the unused Cydia sources and reload the list of tweaks installed. It is
